The biggest story to come out of Week 8 is that Cam Skattebo suffered a horrible injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season. It sucks when a rookie comes in, energizes a team that needs it, and captures the league. Then boom, his season is over. It’s a bummer and there doesn’t seem to be a fix to replace him and Malik Nabers but the Giants may have bright days ahead of them with those two and Jaxson Dart on the offense. Here are our Top 3 2025 NFL Games Week 9.
Kansas City Chiefs vs Buffalo Bills
There will be no bigger game than the Chiefs taking on the Bills. This has become the Tom Brady vs Peyton Manning of this generation. When Patrick Mahomes takes on Josh Allen, it becomes must-see TV. The Chiefs have found their groove again and they showed that against the Commanders on Monday Night Football as they flexed their muscles and got their offense back on track. The Bills have barely slipped up this year. It seems like every other week they are putting up 40 points and running away with victories. For the most part, Allen has gotten the best of Mahomes when it comes to the regular season with a 4-1 record. I think he gets win number five against his nemesis, but the real revenge has to wait until they meet up in January. Prediction: Chiefs 24 Bills 27
Broncos vs Texans
Don’t look now but the Broncos are for real. Bo Nix has his mojo back. After a sophomore slump to begin the year, this looks like the Broncos team that we saw surprise the NFL a year ago. They took it to Dallas in Week 8, scoring 44 points and crushing them through the air and on the ground. There are a lot of weapons for Nix which is good because the Texans have quite a defense and they proved that against the Niners, hardly allowing them a first down in the first half during Week 8 and allowing just two touchdowns while completely shutting down Christian McCaffrey. C.J. Stroud has been hit or miss this season, but I am hoping he can put together a hit in this game and make it entertaining. Winning on the road is hard, and I like Houston to start stacking some wins. Prediction: Broncos 22 Texans 26
Vikings vs Lions
J.J. McCarthy is making his return. Since the Vikings drafted McCarthy a year ago, he’s practically been a ghost. He has appeared in just two games. Carson Wentz did an okay job keeping the Vikings playoff hopes alive but if this team wants to make the postseason, it’s coming with McCarthy under center. They spent a high pick on him and he’s got to prove that letting Sam Darnold walk was the right choice. Meanwhile, the Lions are the Lions. While there have been some slip ups this season with new coordinators and personnel, they are in good shape and will fight with the Packers until the end for the top spot in the North. I am hoping for the best for McCarthy, but I don’t think this is a good environment for him to come back. Prediction: Vikings 20 Lions 28
