2024 AFC South Team Needs

Another NFL season has come and gone and now we are just left to count down the days until training camp starts in July. The Kansas City Chiefs will look to make NFL history next season as they will strive for their third straight Super Bowl championship. Each team will take a long, hard look at their roster over the next few months as they try to improve their standing and land a big-time free agent or strike it rich in the draft. Here are the 2024 AFC South Team Needs. All Cap Space amounts are per Over the Cap as of February 2024.

Houston Texans

  • Biggest Needs: DT, WR, EDGE, OT
  • Cap Space: $67.3 million

This was the team that really stunned everybody in the National Football League last season. The Texans have the foundation and the coach in place to be very good for a very long time. C.J. Stroud was the Rookie of the Year on the offensive side and Will Anderson Jr. was the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Simply put, they have their two anchors on either side of the ball and this offseason they have a ton of money to spend. They should get another legit wide receiver to build their depth, draft a defensive tackle at 23 in the draft and then invest in their offensive line to protect Stroud for years to come.

Tennessee Titans

  • Biggest Needs: OT, WR, RB, CB, S
  • Cap Space: $78.5 million

There are SO many needs for the Titans who have one of the worst rosters in the league right now. Mike Vrabel is out, Ryan Tannehill is out, and Derrick Henry is more than likely out.  So, a new era of Titans football now begins. It seems like Will Levis will be handed the reins this year and thankfully for him, the team has the most cap space of any team in the NFL. They should go out and get the top wide receiver on the market and invest in a back like Tony Pollard and draft for that position as well. Defense was the biggest issue for this team last season so those needs must be addressed too.

Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Biggest Needs: DT, WR, EDGE, G, C
  • Cap Space: $24.4 million

It’s never a great sign when two of your biggest needs are on the offensive line and your QB suffered a season-ending injury a year ago. The Jags must take care of Trevor Lawrence and that starts with the protection up front. There are also a lot of defensive needs for this team so they will have a big decision to make at 17 in the draft. They can use help on the defensive line and the secondary. There isn’t a ton of money to go around in free agency, but it is going to be a really important offseason in Florida for this team to not allow their momentum to go south.

Indianapolis Colts

  • Biggest Needs: WR, CB, S, TE, EDGE
  • Cap Space: $72 million

It stunk that Anthony Richardson went down so early in the season during his rookie year, but things are bright in Indy and they seem to have found their head coach of the future. This team does need some offensive help, especially at the skill positions. I really like the idea of Brock Bowers in Indy where they can make him a total weapon with his size. The other big issues are the secondary and pass rushing. The Colts pick at 15 so they will need a couple of big pickups in free agency, and they certainly have the money to do that.
