2023 NFL Free Agents

We saw some major free agent signings this offseason with big name players heading to new destinations. However, there are still plenty of quality free agents still on the market who are looking for new homes before the NFL Draft begins. Here is our list of some of the top remaining 2023 NFL free agents.

Quarterback

Lamar Jackson** – There are asterisks next to his name because while Lamar Jackson can negotiate with other teams, it won’t just be a straightforward free agent deal. The Ravens placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on him which means if he comes to terms with another team, that franchise would have to trade two first-round picks to the Ravens if Baltimore opted not to match the offer. Jackson is a former MVP and many are scratching their heads over his lack of a deal.

Carson Wentz – He isn’t the most exciting name after burning out in Philly, Indy, and Washington, but Wentz should be able to command a nice backup salary at this point in his career. When healthy, he has shown some nice flashes, but his days of being a starter in the NFL are long over.

Running Back

Ezekiel Elliott – The Cowboys dumped the face of the franchise in favor on Tony Pollard this offseason, so Zeke is still looking for a new home. He had a solid 2022 season in which he rushed for nearly 900 yards and 12 touchdowns despite missing two games to injury. His legs aren’t getting any younger, but he should have a few more good seasons in him for a contender.

Wide Receiver

Julio Jones – 2022 wasn’t the year we thought Jones would have with Tom Brady as his quarterback as he caught just 24 balls and went for 299 yards and two touchdowns. Injuries have always been the major issue for Jones so if he could just get into the right situation and stay healthy, he could contribute to an offense.

Offensive Line

Taylor Lewan – At 31-years-old, Lewan might be out of his prime, but he could likely still play a few more seasons at a high level. Lewan was given a 67.3 offensive rating after playing just 64 offensive snaps in 2022 before he was plagued by injury. But we can’t forget that this guy is a three-time pro Bowler and a former first round pick. He has a lot to teach younger guys and can still likely contribute.

Defensive Line

Jadeveon Clowney – The last few seasons haven’t been the best for Clowney but he still managed to rack up 11 sacks over the last 26 games he has played in. Age is a concern for the former Pro Bowler, but being in Cleveland likely wasn’t the right role for him.

Linebacker

Anthony Barr – He is 31 but he still has a pep in his step after racking up 58 combined tackles and a sack in 2022 with Dallas. Barr was once one of the highest paid linebackers in the league and still has plenty of game left in him.

Secondary

Rock Ya-Sin – He is only 26-years old and is coming off a season in Las Vegas where he had seven passes defended and 37 solo tackles. As a former second-round pick in Indianapolis, he can provide spot starts and good depth for any team needing help in the secondary.
