Best Pellet Smokers

Pellet grills are wonderful.  What’s not to like about a grill and smoker all in one? Their highly precise temperature control allows the backyard cook to do everything from slow smoking a brisket or ribs, to searing a steak, making pizza, serving up burgers, and even desserts. The variety of foods you can make may surprise you! If you’re looking for the best pellet smoker, check out these options.  If you like smoky-flavored foods and the versatility of a one-stop appliance that can handle all your grilling, roasting, baking, and smoking needs then a pellet grill is for you.

Green Mountain Grills Peak – Stainless-Steel (Prime PLUS WiFi)

Built stronger and smarter, the GMG Peak Prime Plus  grill has the same dependable features from the original Prime line, with even more to offer: a collapsible front shelf, interior grill light, rotisserie enabled mounting and stronger reinforced grates. The 13 ½-inch peaked lid provides enough space for a stand-up chicken to a dozen racks of ribs. Ensure maximum combustion thanks to the venturi-style firebox which creates a cyclone flame. This GMG also has Sense-Mate, a thermal sensor that constantly monitors the ambient temperature. When the weather is cold, the sensor kicks the grill into turbo mode, so you do not have to wait long for the grill to heat up!

Camp Chef Woodwind

There’s a reason why people buy pellet grills to begin with: just turn it on, adjust the temperature using the dial, set the “smoke level”, and the grill will do the rest. It’s as simple as that with the Camp Chef Woodwind. The design makes it easy to adjust the smoke level, easy to manage your cook with the versatile upper rack system, and easy to clean up after the cooking is done. The Woodwind uses slide and grill technology which essentially lets you create a high heat sear zone by exposing the direct flame. Best of all, the phone app will notify you when the grill reaches the set desired temperature.

Weber SmokeFire EX4 Gen 2

At first glance, this grill looks attractive enough for anyone’s yard or deck. It’s mostly shiny black with a stainless-steel side table and a digital control panel. Inside, there’s a lower rack for higher-heat cooking and an upper rack for more gentle cooking or warming. While the Weber SmokeFire is not a huge grill overall, there’s plenty of cooking space to feed the entire family. The pellet hopper (which holds about 20 pounds of pellets) runs across the back of the grill and is easy to access from either side. Since pellets come in a variety of wood flavors, this has a pellet release door that allows the pellets to drain out of the bottom of the grill so you can change out the flavor profile whenever you desire.

Memphis Grills Beale Street

Believe it or not, the Beale Street is Memphis Grills’ “entry level” grill, but after you try it out, you’ll realize there is nothing entry level about it! This 26-inch freestanding pellet grill is made from 430 stainless steel for outstanding heat retention. The impressive dual wall construction and overall build quality will last for many years. Plus, the thick, stainless-steel grates are made for the long haul. They transmit a good sear to food, and they are easy to clean. You get about 558 square inches of cooking space (which can be expanded up to 817 square inches with the optional grate).

Coyote 36-Inch Pellet Grill

First thing’s first: You get about 1,000 square inches of cooking area. The primary surface is a laser cut stainless steel plate, heavy and robust. This unit is powerful, with a maximum temperature of around 700 degrees and a direct-flame grilling potential; and it will hold a low temperature for smoking—basically, it checks all the boxes that we want from a pellet grill. What you may notice is that the Coyote doesn’t have Wi-Fi connectivity (a feature almost every pellet grill within this price range has). However, there are three temperature probe ports on the front and an intuitive control panel.

Don’t you want a pellet grill now?  Of course, you do. So, go online, or to your favorite retail location, and buy the best pellet smoker for your budget. You’ll be glad you did.
