Unfortunately, tailgating is one of the many past times that got canceled because of COVID-19. At first it made sense; sporting events and games weren’t happening. Now, though, sports games are happening—but there still are no fans or tailgating allowed. At least at the professional sporting facilities! You don’t have to cancel tailgating completely. We’ve created an out-of-the-box list to share some of the best COVID safe tailgating spots so you can enjoy your favorite pastime—even in the middle of a pandemic.

Make It Virtual

This seems to be the new way of the world. Virtual meetings and gatherings still allow you to share and experience different scenarios with your loved ones, without being in the same location. If you family’s favorite team is playing or the big rival game is on, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. Set up a virtual meeting so you can see all your loved one’s faces and reactions to the game.

Use Your Driveway

You might not be able to go to the parking lot of the stadium, but doesn’t mean you can’t recreate the feel. Organizing a socially distanced tailgate party in your parking lot will still allow you to create an environment similar to the one you miss. Setting up the TV might not be the easiest thing, but it’ll be worth it when you get to enjoy it. Remember, if you’re inviting others follow all social distancing protocol to keep this gathering safe.

Utilize Your Basement

If you have the basement room or have recently constructed or remodeled the perfect space, it’s the ideal area for a small, socially distanced tailgate get together. The best part is, unlike your driveway, the basement already has an entertainment system set up to display the game. It isn’t the real in-person experience but depending on your system it might be close. If you’re inviting people into your home, be cautious of social distancing guidelines.

When planning one of the best COVID safe tailgating spots to enjoy the next game, please always keep safety in the back of your mind. If you’re feeling even the slightest symptom or have been exposed to COVID-19, please refrain from attending the tailgating event. While we still want everybody to make the best with what they have, we also want everybody to do so safely. Who knows, your family might just be grateful you have to wear the face mask when yelling at the TV. Happy tailgating!
