It is here! Finally, enough of the preseason. Enough of the training camp hype. The regular season is upon us with an exciting slate of games to be watched. I have been counting off the days on the calendar and reserving my Sundays for months. There have been big trades (Micah Parsons) and huge contracts (Terry McLaurin) handed out in the last week as we rev up for the first real action of the season. Now we can put the drama behind us and focus on the wins and losses. Here are our Top 3 2025 NFL Games Week 1.
Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles – Thursday Night Football
The first game of the year. Two bitter rivals. One just traded away the best defensive player that they have had in decades. And now they are taking on the reigning Super Bowl champions. The NFL sure does know how to draw up a great script. Brian Schottenheimer is entering his first game as the head coach of the Cowboys, and he gets no easy task with the Eagles waiting to defend their crown. Philly lost some key pieces on defense but knowing Howie Roseman, it shouldn’t be much of an issue to replace and reload. The offense is intact, and Saquon is still in the backfield. An embarrassment in Week 1 might be incoming. Prediction: Cowboys 17 Eagles 28
Kansas City Chiefs vs Los Angeles Chargers – Friday Night Football
Did someone say bitter rivals? Here we go again. The Chargers and the Chiefs take over on night two of the football season. KC is coming off an absolute butt whooping in the Super Bowl and I have no doubt that they would like to erase that memory as soon as they can. This game will be played in Brazil. An international spectacular for two of the most exciting quarterbacks in the league. I think LA takes a massive jump forward in year two under Jim Harbaugh. Their offensive line concerns me with some injuries but with a new rookie running back and Justin Herbert around to run the show, I like their odds. The defense is still fierce, and I think provides an upset in Week 1. Prediction: Chiefs 22 Chargers 25
Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers
Did someone say something about bitter rivals? How about a third divisional game to round out the slate. It’s the first time Micah Parsons will wear a Packers uniform, and it will happen at Lambeau Field against the Detroit Lions. You could not write it up any better than this. The glaring question for the Lions is this: Was it Dan Campbell who brought success or his coordinators. If the answer is the latter, then the Lions could be in for a struggle with Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson departing for head coaching jobs this offseason. The personnel is still largely the same but there could be an adjustment period for Detroit. Green Bay is more balanced entering Week 1 and even gets a jolt with Parsons coming onboard. Prediction: Lions 24 Packers 28
