Last week, Christian McCaffrey had a historic day, the Jets nearly ruined the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce show, and the other New York team is playing so poorly that we might have to consider relegation. With four weeks in the books, we look forward to the top matchups this week. Here are our Top 3 2023 NFL Games Week 5.
Dallas Cowboys vs San Francisco 49ers
There isn’t much to say about this game other than that we could be looking at an NFC Championship preview. The Niners are Super Bowl favorites, Jerry Jones even said that this team should be a good test for his team to see how they hold up. The 49ers offense appears to be unstoppable at this point, but the Cowboys have the best defense that they’ve faced. Up to this point, they have scored 30 or more in all four games, and I don’t know how you stop Christian McCaffrey who is jumping to the top of MVP boards. The Cowboys have played well this season, outside of their inexplicable loss to the Arizona Cardinals. This game will come down to who gets more stops in crucial spots and the 49ers will have the advantage as they are playing at home. Prediction: Cowboys 22 49ers 28
Jacksonville Jaguars vs Buffalo Bills
I want to hype up the Trevor Lawrence and Josh Allen matchup that we could see for many years to come in the AFC. This quarterback battle isn’t talked about enough because it has only happened once and in that game, Lawrence threw for only 118 yards. This is a chance for the Jags QB to show the Bills Mafia what he is made of. Jacksonville has been rocky so far this season and they enter the game with a 2-2 record, but they are coming off a big win over Atlanta in London. The Jaguars will be the first NFL team ever to stay overseas for another international game, while the Bills travel to London this week. The Bills just beat down the Dolphins to a pulp. Their offense can’t be stopped, scoring 48 points. Josh Allen went for 320 yards and four touchdowns, and the game was out of reach very quickly. I would hate to play the Bills at home where they have a massive advantage, and I don’t want Buffalo when they are hot. Prediction: Jags 24 Bills 38
Tennessee Titans vs Indianapolis Colts
There is always something interesting when the Titans and Colts play. It feels like we get a career day from Derrick Henry or a spectacular performance from the Colts. Anthony Richardson has played well as a rookie QB. Last week he threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns. He has thrown just one interception so far this season. Tennessee has some serious issues of their own. I am wondering how long the leash is for QB Ryan Tannehill. He hasn’t necessarily gone above and beyond to win any games, but he has certainly played poorly enough to lose games. Both teams are 2-2 and the South is always a dog fight. Every team in the division has the same record now so these divisional games are crucial when we get to January. Prediction: Titans 27 Colts 23
