Top 3 2022 College Football Games Week 2

Week 1 in college football had a little bit of everything. There were some major upsets, some teams hung around that we didn’t think should have, and of course, there was mostly sheer domination by Power 5 schools over FCS teams and mid-majors. This week will look very similar, but there are some great matchups that are revving up.  Here are our top 3 2022 college football games week 2.

No. 1 Alabama at Texas

This is the highlighted game of the week on the schedule. The Crimson Tide are traveling to Austin to take on a Texas team that likely isn’t back. The last time Alabama played a team from Texas, the A&M Aggies came surging onto the field as time expired and the upset had been complete. I wouldn’t hold my breath this time around that a similar outcome is brewing. Texas put up on a fine performance against Louisiana Monroe, but there was nothing else to expect out of that game. Quinn Ewers looked fine, but I am not ready to sit here and declare to the world that he is ready to take on the Crimson Tide and Nick Saban. Bama put up a 55-0 shutout of Utah State. Prediction: Alabama 48 Texas 21

No. 9 Baylor at No. 21 BYU

This might not be as flashy of a matchup, but this is definitely one of the better games of the week. Baylor is a legit contender this year and they now will get a taste of playing in Utah, the home of BYU, their future Big 12 foe. This is a total trap game. It is being played on the road, in altitude, and a week after blowing out Albany, an FCS team, 69-10. Meanwhile BYU is coming off a road beating of the University of South Florida in a game that never looked good for the Bulls. If there is an upset brewing, it could be in this matchup. The Bears have a stout defense that is going to give the Cougs trouble, but the atmosphere in Provo is tough for any road team. Prediction: BYU 27 Baylor 22

No. 20 Kentucky at No. 12 Florida

The Wildcats are going to have to travel to Gainesville and take down a Florida team that is coming off one of the best wins from the previous week. Utah was paid to come to town by the Gators but were still favored. They left with their hats in their hands and an L in the win/loss column. A couple of impressive goal line stands kept the Gators in the game just long enough to upset Utah and deliver a huge blow to the Pac 12. Kentucky is coming off a mediocre win over Miami, Ohio. They put up just 37 points which is enough to raise some concern for me. I am leaning towards Florida in this contest. I predicted that Florida would upset Utah last week, and I think they’ll do it again this week. Kentucky has high hopes but playing on the road might be too much to handle. Prediction: Florida 31 Kentucky 27
