AFC South Offseason Team Needs

The NFL season has ended with the Los Angeles Rams on top of the food chain. It’s now time for executives and front offices to get into the trenches and make their teams better. The offseason is where championships are won and there are plenty of massively talented NFL free agents who can make teams better overnight. In this Tailgater Magazine series, we’ll be breaking down the needs of every team in the league. Let’s take a look at the AFC South team needs.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Team Needs: OT, C, LB, TE, S

To be honest, if we were going to list out all the holes that this Jags team has, we would take up the full page. Jacksonville needs serious help in a lot of different places, but the most crucial acquisition was getting head coach Doug Pederson in the door. It is now time for the Jags to build around QB Trevor Lawrence. Establishing a great offensive line is the first of their priorities and they could trade back from their first overall spot in the first round to pile up picks. I’d love to see them bring in a guy like TE Zach Ertz who has a ton of experience with Pederson to be a veteran leader in that locker room.

Indianapolis Colts

Team Needs: CB, WR, TE, QB

There are rumors that suggest the Colts may move on from QB Carson Wentz, something that would surprise me but has certainly been talked about. If that were to happen, bringing in a veteran guy like Jameis Winston, Teddy Bridgewater, or Ryan Fitzpatrick would be the first option but one that doesn’t really scream success. The Colts could use some more playmakers on offense to build around RB Jonathan Taylor. They don’t have a first-round selection, but they do have lots of money to spend. The Colts should be very active in free agency, maybe even luring a guy like WR Allen Robinson.

Tennessee Titans

Team Needs: CB, WR, TE, EDGE

The Titans have a sour taste in their mouth coming off a first-round bye just to lose in the second round. Tennessee had so many injury issues which shows how good their coaching is that they still finished first in the AFC. Finding a star cornerback and loading this offense with weapons around Derrick Henry is key. There are lots of great tight ends on the market as the Titans didn’t replace Jonnu Smith last year and it hurt. Keeping LB Harold Landry would be huge but they are over the cap and will need to get creative to do so.

Houston Texans

Team Needs: QB, TE, OG, DE, WR, RB

The Texans are another team, like the Jags, that have millions of needs. The most pressing need is QB as Tyrod Taylor is not the answer and Deshaun Watson is just a mess. Overall, this is a very lackluster roster. The Texans have the third-overall pick and with this being such a weak draft class, I am anxious to see if they decide to trade back and stockpile picks in future years.
