With the draft fast approaching, most teams are set on improving their rosters through unproven talent. But there are still plenty of great free agents available that can help a team in a lot of ways. We likely won’t see many of these guys signed until after the draft as they will bolster rosters that just need one or two more pieces to really compete. Here are the best 2025 NFL free agents still available.
Aaron Rodgers – QB
The Aaron Rodgers saga never disappoints. When was the last offseason where there was absolutely no drama with the former Packers and Jets QB? The Jets made sweeping changes to their organization this offseason, with new head coach Aaron Glenn, and Rodgers was cut after two disastrous seasons with the team. The Giants, Browns, and Seahawks all have their QB situation settled, leaving just a few teams for Rodgers. He passed for 3,897 yards last season with 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. If you sign Rodgers, you are signing the heavy baggage that comes along with him and likely a trifecta of aging players that he demands tag along for the ride. Best Fits: Steelers, Vikings, Titans
Amari Cooper – WR
The 2024 season was not very kind to Amari Cooper despite getting a trade from the Browns to the Bills. I thought Coop and Josh Allen would have been a match made in heaven, but Cooper often felt left out of the offense and suffered from a case of the drops which dampened his 2024 stats. Despite getting up there in age for a wide receiver, Cooper had 1000+ receiving seasons in both 2022 and 2023 and he did it with subpar offenses and bad quarterback play. He made Joe Flacco look like Joe Montana. Cooper could still contribute at a high level. Best Fits: Cowboys, Buccaneers, Panthers
Asante Samuel Jr. – Cornerback
Samuel Jr. looked like he was going to be one of the best young cornerbacks in the game just a few seasons ago, but injury concerns have derailed him and made it difficult for him to get a contract this offseason. At one point, he looked like a lock to demand a multi-year contract upwards of $70 million but will likely have to play on a prove-it-deal in 2025 which is great for a team with a cornerback need. He had two interceptions in each of his first three seasons. Best Fits: 49ers, Bills, Raiders
J.K. Dobbins – Running Back
Unfortunately for Dobbins, he is going to have the injury tag around his neck for the rest of his career. He was on pace to be the NFL Comeback Player of the Year winner last year, but he got hurt. Again. However, in the games he played, he rushed for 905 yards and nine touchdowns. Justin Herbert and the Chargers leaned on him this past season and he proved that he can still throw on the burst when needed to beat a defender. I hope a team gives him a shot. Best Fits: Broncos, Browns, Steelers
