2025 AFC South Team Needs

The AFC South wasn’t good. Plain and simple. The Houston Texans may have won the division, but it came with a big sophomore slump out of C.J. Stroud. The Indianapolis Colts were a PR nightmare. They yanked around Anthony Richardson, who was partially to blame for that, and opted for ancient Joe Flacco at times. The Jaguars and the Titans? Hardly worth mentioning. Trevor Lawrence ended another season on the IR. They fired Doug Pederson. They had no rhythm. In their first season without Mike Vrabel, the Titans were as bad as expected with Will Levis who gave us an internet meme per week. There needs to be a total rehaul in this division. Here’s our 2025 AFC South team needs analysis.

Tennessee Titans

Needs: QB, WR, Edge, OT, S

The Titans have the first overall pick in the draft for a reason. Will Levis was atrocious last season. Whatever the Titans thought they could get out of him at the QB position was lost. So, they are at least in a great spot to either grab Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward with the first overall pick. There have been talks of them trading out of this pick, but that makes no sense to me. They were robbed last year by Calvin Ridley so they still need help at wide receiver. If there was one plus, the defense is in good shape. If they can shore up the secondary and add a pass rusher, this team could add 4-5 wins this season.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Needs: CB, S, IOL, WR

The Jags have already had a really messy offseason so excuse me if my confidence in this franchise isn’t sky high. They allowed Trent Baalke to stay on as GM for the first head coaching search. Once there was no interest from the candidates, they fired Baalke, made a league-wide spectacle of hiring Liam Coen, and then hired a GM about a month after the fact. Coen will go to work on the offense where Trevor Lawrence, who signed a massive extension last offseason, will still be around. But the main issue is their atrocious defense. It was one of the worst last season and is expected to only get worse with a couple of main players hitting free agency.

Indianapolis Colts

Needs: IOL, TE, CB, LB

The Colts pick 14th in this draft which isn’t very helpful given what a mess this roster is right now. Given a new hire at defensive coordinator in Lou Anarumo, I think the Colts will focus heavily on the defensive side of the ball. A cornerback and a linebacker are a must to get this defense back into shape. There is no doubt that the Colts allowed themselves to get bullied on that side of the ball. We also must consider getting Anthony Richardson better protection if he truly is the answer at the QB position.

Houston Texans

Needs: WR, OG, DT, CB

The Texans made a big swing and a big miss to acquire Stefon Diggs last offseason. He tore his ACL early in the season and is now primed for free agency. Pair that with Tank Dell having a gruesome injury that could keep him out all of 2025, and C.J. Stroud desperately needs more offensive weapons. Pair that with getting him protection and the Texans should still easily win this division again as the other teams are just that bad.
