2024 Summer Olympics Preview

All eyes around the world will be on Paris, France come July for the 2024 Summer Olympics. There is nothing like watching athletes compete in track, swimming and diving, gymnastics and so much more. It is one of the proudest times to be an American as we hope to rack up gold medals. Let’s review which athletes we think are the most exciting and will be representing the United States this summer.

Simone Biles – Gymnastics

Is there anyone more exciting than Simone Biles in these Olympics? My answer is no. Biles is an Olympics GOAT. She has the chance to be the holder of the most medals in history. With just one more medal, Biles will become the most decorated American gymnast. Her 2020 performance certainly wasn’t up to her standards with one silver and one bronze win which came after she won four golds in 2016. There is no doubt that she will be fighting to get back to the top of the podium.

Gavin Bottger – Skateboarding

It’s not one of the more popular sports since it was just added in 2020, but America has a real shot to be at the top of the podium and they could be led by a 17-year-old in Gavin Bottger. He is the reigning world champion in men’s park skating and has taken home several X Game medals. Bottger could really make a name for himself if he can earn a gold medal in Paris.

Trinity Rodman – Women’s Soccer

Trinity Rodman is on the verge of becoming the face of the U.S. Women’s National Team. We are no longer seeing Megan Rapinoe, Julie Ertz, and Kelley O’Hara suiting up and there is no telling how much longer Alex Morgan will be playing. Rodman is only 22 and is the future of the sport here in the United States and of this team. She is the daughter of NBA Hall-of-Famer Dennis Rodman and has the winning spirit in her blood. This will be a big test for the team after an incredibly disappointing finish in the World Cup a year ago.

Xander Schauffele – Golf

He won the gold medal in 2020 and made Americans proud and he is fresh off his first major championship as he won the PGA Championship at Valhalla earlier this month. Schauffele could really etch himself into the men’s history book at the Olympics if he can pull off another impressive feat. He will have to fend off two of the other bests in the sport in Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler. It should feel like a major championship in Paris.

Jack Alexy – Swimming

He is the new face of the U.S. men’s swimming team. He impressed at the 2023 World Swimming Championships where he won silver medals in both the 50m and 100m freestyle events, and also swam on three medal-winning U.S. relay teams. Alexy is just 21 years old and hoping to become the next dominant American swimmer.

Katie Ledecky – Swimming

And of course, there is no overlooking Ledecky. She is the most decorated female swimmer of all time and wows us every time she jumps into the pool. Ledecky has seven gold medals over the last three Olympics and will hope to add to her tally.
