2024 NFC West Team Needs

Another NFL season has come and gone and now we are just left to count down the days until training camp starts in July. The Kansas City Chiefs will look to make NFL history next season as they will strive for their third straight Super Bowl championship. Each team will take a long, hard look at their roster over the next few months as they try to improve their standing and land a big-time free agent or strike it rich in the draft. Here are the 2024 NFC West team needs. All Cap Space amounts are per Over the Cap as of March 2024.

San Francisco 49ers

  • Biggest Needs: OT, CB, WR, EDGE
  • Cap Space: -$285,000

The 49ers were a few defensive stands away from taking down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs but it didn’t happen. The good news is that they still have one of the best rosters in the entire NFL. They are still paying Brock Purdy a rookie salary as well. They have one more year of loading up before things get really tricky. The Niners should go with a corner like Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the first round this year and then build the offensive line from there. Getting Brandon Aiyuk locked up is key for them.

Los Angeles Rams

  • Biggest Needs: CB, EDGE, OT, LB
  • Cap Space: $40.8 million

The Rams have some cash to spend, and they finally have some draft picks as well. At number 19, they get my favorite pass rusher in the draft in Laiatu Latu and make it back-to-back years with excellent drafts. They should investigate acquiring Patrick Surtain from Denver if they really do want to  “F*** them picks” as GM Les Snead famously said a few years back when they acquired Matthew Stafford, because few guys in the game are as good as Surtain and it would make that defense legit.

Arizona Cardinals

  • Biggest Needs: WR, OT, EDGE, G, DT
  • Cap Space: $56.6 million

It isn’t great when you put a ton of money into a franchise quarterback and your biggest needs are a wide receiver and upgrades on practically the entire offensive line. Getting Marvin Harrison Jr. at number four alleviates a ton of issues for this team as he will be incredible to watch in the NFL just like his dad was. They get to pick again at the back half of the first round, and I would make sure to land a pass rusher or someone to actually protect Kyler Murray. With money to spend, another top wide receiver should be paid acquired. At the least, they need to re-sign Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.

Seattle Seahawks

  • Biggest Needs: G, C, LB, EDGE
  • Cap Space: $41.6 million

New coach and new era in Seattle. The Hawks have issues on both sides of the line and that will be the first thing to address this offseason. They have some cash to burn, and I would be surprised if they didn’t hand out a big free agent contract to one of the top offensive lineman available. They need secondary help as well. Seattle was impressive the first half of the season and then they really fell off. They need to capitalize on having Geno Smith back and playing at a high level.
