The College Football Playoff rankings are out! Unfortunately, that means adios to the AP rankings because the CFP runs the sport. Big surprise at the top where Ohio State took over from Georgia. Michigan and Florida State round out the top four with Washington and Oregon being the first two out. While all games have mattered this year, it now means a little more when you see everyone has it laid out in front of them. Here are our Top 3 2023 College Football Games Week 10.
No. 23 Kansas State vs No. 7 Texas
Don’t look now but the Big 12 is wide open. Oklahoma is at the top but there are plenty of teams right there in the hunt and that includes both Kansas State, the reigning champ of the conference, and Texas, a team that would desperately like to leave the conference at top and try to convince some people that they are still a football school. Kansas State has had an up and down season at quarterback where they have dealt with injuries and Texas is now dealing with some of the same as Quinn Ewers battles injury. Maalik Murphy got the start over Arch Manning last week and is in line to do so again this week. My money is on Kansas State to make it a very rough day for him. Prediction: Kansas State 24 Texas 17
No. 5 Washington vs No. 20 USC
This should be one of the most watched games of the day as Washington, who could be in line for a shot at the CFP, takes on a USC team that seems to have fallen off ever since their loss to Notre Dame. They have struggled against Colorado, Arizona State, and Cal over the last few weeks, and they have taken losses to Notre Dame and Utah. While USC limps to the finish line, they’d love to go ahead and upset Washington and throw a wrench in the plans of their future Big 10 foe. Michael Pennix Jr. has been a ton of fun to watch this year and he is my Heisman pick at this point in the season. This could be a signature game for him to improve his candidacy and to help his team stay alive in pursuit of winning the Pac 12 Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff. Prediction: Washington 40 USC 31
No. 14 LSU vs No.8 Alabama
I already know that Nick Saban is not happy with this ranking. Alabama only has one loss this whole year, but it just hasn’t felt like the dominant Bama teams that we are used to seeing. LSU has been a huge disappointment, and we were told that Jaylen Daniel would be a Heisman candidate this year and that hasn’t been exactly true up to this point. The Tigers have two losses and are basically playing for a great bowl game at this point. This game means everything to Alabama, and they will need a convincing win. Prediction: LSU 24 Alabama 30
