How about Week 8 of the college football season? Four top 10 teams all fell, and the AP rankings took another shuffle as a search for the most dominant team in the country remains. Alabama flexed their old muscle, Georgia proved that they are still the big dogs of the SEC, Indiana continues to win, and there were certainly some shakeups in the ACC and the Big 12. This week has some seriously important matchups and shocker, most of them come to us from the SEC. Here are our Top 3 2025 College Football Games Week 9.
No. 8 Ole Miss vs No. 13 Oklahoma
Ole Miss suffered their first loss of the season to Georgia. They both enter with one loss in the SEC although Oklahoma has played one less game. This is the best team that Brent Venables has fielded, and his defense is legit. The loss to Texas has fans and boosters feeling antsy but a win over Ole Miss would certainly calm the nerves in Norman. The Sooners field the best defense in college football in yards per game allowed and now have their hands full with a team that ranks 10th in the same category offensively. Lane Kiffin will reach into the bag and get creative in this game, but I think the OU defense at home gets the stops it needs. Prediction: Ole Miss 22 Oklahoma 24
No. 15 Missouri vs No. 10 Vanderbilt
Seeing Vanderbilt in the top 10 is something that warms my heart. Vandy is 6-1 for the first time since get this…1950. That’s right, I would bet that the large majority of those reading this article weren’t born. Vandy has been one of the best stories of the season and Diego Pavia has a legit shot to be the Heisman award winner come December. But they have a tough matchup this week against Mizzou who has a top five defense and has been suffocating for most of the season. Vandy matches up well against them on paper with a top 25 defense of their own. Where this game can be won is through the air for Missouri who has a much better passing offense than Vandy does passing defense. Vandy is the higher ranked team, but the Tigers will beat them through the air. Prediction: Mizzou 35 Vandy 30
No. 3 Texas A&M vs No. 20 LSU
LSU has taken such a tumble down the AP Poll that Tigers fans are already calling for Brian Kelly’s head. I thought it would take at least one more season but it’s starting to seem like Baton Rouge isn’t feeling very welcoming to the fake southern accent anymore. A&M is all the way up to the three-spot in the AP Poll but got a run for their money against Arkansas last week. We are used to A&M losing games like that, but it spoke volumes to me that they finished it out. If Mike Elko were to want to leave College Station, he would have his choice. LSU can’t run the ball to save their lives, and the Aggies have a top 20 run defense so I would imagine that most of the problems they have faced this season flare up again this week. Prediction: Texas A&M 25 LSU 22
