For the next 18 weeks of your life, you are going to hear about who should be the MVP or who will win the Super Bowl? There will be office debates about the Defensive Player of the Year and whether Patrick Mahomes is better than Tom Brady. So how about I just get ahead of it (no to the Mahomes debate) and tell you who will win all those awards and who will lift a Lombardi at the end of the season. Here are my 2025 NFL award predictions as well as my Super Bowl pick.
MVP: Joe Burrow
In my opinion, Joe Burrow was the MVP of the NFL a season ago, but he had the worst defense known to man which put his team out of contention early on. Burrow led the NFL in passing yards and passing touchdowns and was top 3 in QBR. He has Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase locked up for the foreseeable future and Chase Brown proved to be a dependable running back. Burrow is the man to win it.
Defensive Player of the Year: Fred Warner
I am shocked that Warner has yet to win this award. I know that sacks and interceptions are the stats that we grade defensive players on, but Warner is one of the game’s biggest disruptors and has been called the greatest linebacker of this generation. With no Dre Greenlaw beside him, I think the league really takes notice of just how special he is and crowns Warner the DPOY.
Offensive Player of the Year: Ja’Marr Chase
Remember his mention from up above? Chase is the best wide receiver in the league when he is healthy and now that defenses will have to deal with him and a healthy Higgins at the same time, God bless. Chase could very well go for over 1800 yards this season.
Offensive Rookie of the Year: Omarion Hampton
Here is a surprise pick. Ashton Jeanty is going to take some abuse in Vegas with his running style and a bad offense around him, and I fear that he misses some time. Cam Ward will struggle in year one but Hampton is going to flourish in Jim Harbaugh’s system.
Defensive Rookie of the Year: James Pearce
The Falcons have needed a legit edge rusher for a few years now and Pearce is going to fit into that spot and record 10 sacks in his rookie year. The secondary has some legit weapons to hold down wide receivers, giving Pearce a few extra ticks to rack them up.
Division Winners:
- AFC South: Houston
- AFC North: Baltimore
- AFC East: Buffalo
- AFC West: Kansas City
- NFC South: Tampa Bay
- NFC North: Green Bay
- NFC East: Washington
- NFC West: San Francisco
Super Bowl
This is the year. For years, Lamar Jackson has been haunted by Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. But this time around, the Ravens make it past both to advance to the Big Game. The Green Bay Packers will be anxiously awaiting them but Jordan Love on the mainstage isn’t great and it’s a runaway for Baltimore.
