The Major League Baseball season is in full swing. There has been a ton of great action thus far. Plenty of things pop off the page as major surprises, while others could be classified as disappointments. Let’s dive into the 2025 MLB biggest disappointments more than a month into the season.
The Baltimore Orioles
This has been the toughest thing to watch for me personally this year. It looked like the Orioles were finally out from the rubble and that they would compete, year-in and year-out for many years to come. The Orioles were a World Series favorite for many this season, but they have looked anything but that through the first month of the season. As of this writing, they sit in last place and are nine games under .500 in the AL East. I imagine manager Brandon Hyde is a few games away from losing his job. Adley Rutchsman has been in a slump since spring training began and Gunnar Henderson, who I thought could be the MVP this season, is hitting .250. The Orioles must make some major moves to their roster ASAP or they will call this a lost season.
The Rockies Still Having the Same Owner
The Monfort brothers are atrocious owners. There is no sugar coating it. They don’t invest, they don’t care, they frankly look at the profit and keep it rolling. We see this every single year from Colorado as they refuse to spend, and their fans suffer. This year has been no different. The Rockies have yet to win 10 games as we approach the season being 25% complete. If we thought the White Sox were bad a year ago, I don’t want to know what we think of this team so far. At a certain point, Major League Baseball and Rob Manfred must step in and force these guys to sell the team to an owner that wants their fans to enjoy the product and stay relatively competitive.
The Rangers Offense
On paper, the Rangers should be a terrifying team to pitch to. I mean, they have Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Josh Jung, and Adolis Garcia. However, this team is truly bad at hitting. They are so bad in fact that they fired their hitting coach a month into the season and replaced him with Bret Boone. Boone has never been a coach in the majors, and he hasn’t played in the bigs since 2005. I’m not sure what the Rangers are doing, but I am sure that they likely won’t be back to the Fall Classic with an offense like the one they are currently employing. They are 27th in OPS and 19th in home runs.
Willy Adames
Executives recently voted Willy Adames as the most disappointing player thus far in 2025. The San Francisco Giants gave him the largest contract in franchise history over the offseason. All he has done with it is lead the league in errors and hit right around the .230 mark. The Giants need another big hitter in their lineup and Adames is failing the test big time.
