The land of Sparty pops up next on our list, and despite the poor showing on the scoreboard in 2016, Mark Dantonio has turned Michigan State University into a Big Ten blue blood in his time there. As a result, the tailgating traditions have boomed, and MSU is giving Spartan fans a big reason to return to East Lansing: Spartan Stadium is getting an upgrade!

The university plans to expand the south end of the stadium to offer more fan amenities, concessions and restrooms, all of which will decrease congestion on the east and west sides of the stadium. The south end’s gates are being redesigned to ease fan access from the parking lots, and donor plazas will also be renovated.

In the past, MSU has had to rent temporary lighting systems to illuminate the field for certain events – and not just football. But permanent LED field lighting has is being installed, courtesy of the Big Ten Network. This will surely take the frenzied environment of Spartan Stadium to a fevered pitch when opponents visit MSU for a night game.

As MSU Shadows rings from Beaumont Towers, East Lansing temporarily lifts open container laws; then the party really gets going. Spacious lots are jam-packed with fans grilling barbecued brisket, burgers and a Spartan favorite: cheddar peppers. Win or lose, the party continues at the local watering holes. Backyard Bar-B-Q and Harper’s Brew Pub will be rocking as Michigan State gets back to their winning ways!
