"This classic cocktail has somehow managed to stay under the radar of most bars. The history for this purple drink is less fuzzy than most. It was created by Hugo Ensslin in 1913 and included in his book, Recipes for Mixed Drinks, in 1917."
2 oz London Dry Gin
1/2 oz Maraschino Liqueur
3/4 oz Lemon Juice
1 bar spoon Crème de Violette
1/4 oz Simple Syrup
1 each Cocktail Cherry or Lemon Twist For garnish
Add all ingredients except Crème de Violette to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake for 10-15 seconds.
Fine-strain (double-strain) into a chilled coupe glass.
Use a bar spoon to drop the Crème de Violette into the glass.
Garnish with a brandied cocktail cherry or lemon twist.
