IT IS BACK. The 2025 college football season will be in full swing this week. Week 0 has come and gone, and Week 1 is now on the horizon. There are so many great games to pick from on the slate with battles going on all weekend long as the NCAA capitalizes on the final week before the start of the NFL season. Here are our Top 3 2025 College Football Games Week 1.
No. 1 Texas vs. No. 3 Ohio State
Are you kidding me?? This is legitimately a National Championship preview. Texas could very well be the best team in the SEC and Ohio State is likely the best team in the Big Ten. These two taking each other on in Week 1 is pure poetry. If Arch Manning was looking for a cupcake game to get his tenure as the starting QB of the Longhorns started, then he is in for a rude awakening. Ohio State may not be the same team that just won a National Championship, but they are still loaded with talent. This game will most definitely come down to the wire. Emotions will be on display with OSU needing to tame itself with its first home game since winning a title. I believe the number one team in the country is going to show up and prove why they have so much hype entering this 2025 season. In week 1, they keep their ranking. Prediction: Texas 28 Ohio State 23
No. 9 LSU vs No. 4 Clemson
I wrote up a CFP prediction a few days back and I had both of these teams in the mix. Like the rest of the country, I am pretty high on Clemson. For the first time in this new era, Dabo Swinney finally let down his hair and agreed to get into the NIL game and he put together a stacked and loaded roster that is led by experienced QB Cade Klubnik who finally has a legit shot at competing for a National Title. This is the best Clemson team that they’ve fielded since winning a Natty in 2018. Brian Kelly could feel his seat in Baton Rouge warm up if he fails to make the CFP as he takes big paychecks and turns them into nothing. In Week 1, it’s Clemson that puts the Tigers on blast and makes them embarrassed. Prediction: LSU 21 Clemson 34
No. 6 Notre Dame vs No. 10 Miami
There is nothing like a little Sunday night action during Week 1 of the college football season. Mario Cristobal has essentially been handed a blank check from the Miami boosters and was told to go bring them home not just an ACC title but a big run that lands them deep into the CFP. He brought in Carson Beck from Georgia and paid him a ton of money to be the head of this offense. Notre Dame has a swagger under Marcus Freeman and while I wouldn’t necessarily call this the Catholics vs Convicts game, I do think that it could be one heck of a fight. Miami is one of my favorite teams entering this season and they roll in Week 1 with an upset. Prediction: Notre Dame 25 Miami 26
