Are you ready for some football? We are going to blink, and the 2025 NFL season will be upon us as training camps for all 32 teams start later this month. There is plenty to dive into this year with quarterbacks switching teams, major coaches making a return, and plenty of teams getting much better, while some probably needed some more help. Here is our 2025 NFC East preview.
Last Year
Dominant from start to finish. That’s the best way to describe the Philadelphia Eagles who seemed untouchable on offense and proved just how good their defense was when they routed the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. The Commanders were the best surprise of the year with Jayden Daniels commanding respect and leading the Washington franchise in Year 1 as he took home Rookie of the Year honors. He and Dan Quinn will be fun to watch for quite some time. Then there were the Dallas Cowboys who lost Dak Prescott halfway through the year, played well under Cooper Rush but were never able to fully find their footing and had a disappointing finish. Meanwhile, it’s shocking the Giants kept their front office intact after a horrific offseason and regular season.
Favorite to win in 2025
You can pencil the Eagles back into this spot. They had to make some major changes on defense and lost a couple of starters due to high demand in free agency, but one thing that GM Howie Roseman has done well is drafting to replace starters on his defensive line and he was forced into it again this offseason. Their offense remains largely intact with Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith all set to return.
Offensive Player to Watch: Jayden Daniels
He was the Rookie of the Year in 2024 so all eyes will be on him in 2025. Will he continue to develop and turn in a stellar sophomore year, or will he go the route of C.J. Stroud and have a major slump in year two? His offense is stacked with weapons, and they were able to retain Kliff Kingsbury as their offensive coordinator thanks to a deep playoff run that largely kept him out of the job cycle.
Defensive Player to Watch: Abdul Carter
Last year we wrote about Brian Burns in this spot as he was traded to the Giants and made their defensive line much better. Now, he’s paired with Abdul Carter who was selected third overall by the Giants in April’s draft. The Giants are hoping they hit on a version of Michael Strahan that can suit up for the GMen for years to come.
Prediction
Philly lost some pieces and Super Bowl hangovers are very real. I loved what I saw from the Commanders a year ago, and I think Dan Quinn is the kind of coach who can keep a good thing going as Washington wins the division. Record (12-5)
